PRESS RELEASE---
Denver, March 14, 2009— At the Denver Marriott Tech Center, during the Colorado Broadcasters Association Awards of Excellence Gala, News/Talk 1310 KFKA was recognized in three categories for broadcast excellence. For the second time, KFKA’s Troy Coverdale was awarded for Best Sports Coverage and Best Newscast. Troy has served as KFKA’s News and Sports Director for almost seven years. He spends many hours on the road with the UNC teams during football and basketball seasons.
Justin Sasso, General Manager of KFKA said, “Troy has truly earned the title Voice of the UNC Bears. His play by play is unequaled by any other broadcaster in Northern Colorado. He’s major market and we’re proud to have him on our team.”
KFKA was also recognized for the fourth year running for Best News/Talk Broadcast Personality. This year, Trevor, Troy and George of AM Colorado, and Scooter McGee of The Scooter McGee Show were all recognized. In previous years, Amy Oliver, Luke Shilts and morning team have all been honored with this award.
“I can’t tell you how proud this makes us all at KFKA. To date, every one of our live and local talk shows has been recognized in this category. AM Colorado has been recognized twice. This just confirms what we’ve always known: KFKA offers the best live and local News/Talk programming in Colorado,” said Sasso.
The Colorado Broadcasters Association Awards of Excellence are designed to honor individual and station excellence within the Colorado Broadcast industry and to celebrate broadcasters’ service to their communities. An awards gala is held each March in Denver. Stations compete in a variety of categories with judging of entries administered by another state’s broadcast association.
