Deep Secrets from the Cold War **DECLASSIFIED**

Tonights guest is Nicholas Daniloff discussing some of the deepest secrets of the cold war and how Russia affects us today!

Nicholas Daniloff served as a correspondent between 1959 to 1986 for United Press International and U.S. News and World Report in both Moscow and Washington. He came to international attention in 1986 when the Soviet Union arrested him in retaliation for the arrest in New York of Soviet spy Gennady Zakharov. Daniloff’s arrest threatened a planned summit conference between President Reagan and Soviet leader Michael Gorbachev. After six weeks of intensive negotiations, both sides agreed on a compromise and the Iceland summit went ahead in October 1986. Daniloff, who speaks French and Russian fluently, holds degrees from both Harvard and Oxford Universities. He is Professor of Journalism at Northeastern University. His previous books include The Kremlin and the Cosmos and Two Lives, One Russia. Daniloff lives in Andover, Vermont, and Cambridge, Massachusetts.
